In unsurprising publishing news...

Apparently, Assholes Finish First was too risque for Publishers Marketplace. And I would've been shocked if he'd sold the book to anyone else.

Blogger Tucker Max's second book, A**HOLES FINISH FIRST, following Jeremie Ruby-Strauss to Simon Spotlight Entertainment, for publication in January 2008

Update: There is a little twist on this. The reason no agent's name is listed is because there wasn't an agent to take a $45,000 cut (according to Max, this deal was for $300,000). This is from Publishers Weekly:

Jeremie Ruby-Strauss at Simon Spotlight has acquired world rights to blogger Tucker Max's next book, A**holes Finish First; the deal was made directly with the author. This will be a collection of new stories about Max's debauched adventures; his first book, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, has sold more than 70,000 copies. The book is currently scheduled for publication in January 2008.

Tucker Max, the rare successful blogger turned author of “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” (tucker max.com), is a bit more, um, direct.
“These bloggers aren’t good writers and they really don’t get a lot of traffic if you really look at the numbers,” he said. “They had a blog, people liked reading the blog, then they wrote stuff people don’t want to read. Who cares what Jessica Cutler’s novel is about? People liked reading she had sex with senators who paid her (money).

(This strikes me as rather amusing; I would think Max and Cutler would be allies in the whole First-Amendment-right-to-blog-about-who-you-fuck solidarity sense. Personally, I don't understand how Steinbuch can win his case if Max won his. Maybe they're not 100% analogous, but close enough to my civilian brain.)
